We often think that the giants of 20th-century art living and working in the semi-isolation with limited groups of friends, so it’s easy to forget they, too, had Instagram accounts. Of course, they didn’t have the massive following of today’s it-girls and stars, but they had their own share of followers and likes, in well adjusted proportions to the in uence and pleasantness of their work. It is regrettable that to this day, both the Critic and the Art historian left aside this incomparable source of documentation, to rely on supposedly more noble artifacts such as letters, diaries, word of mouth rumors, ex- lovers accounts and self built legends. We do hope that this unearthed, never seen Artists Instagrams will bring a fresh object of studies to a new generation of researchers, while the simple amateur will by no doubt nd interest in this direct access to the psyche of last century most prominent creators and the wehereabouts of classic art in the making.
